1. Since when have you been playing X-Wing?
A friend of mine gave the X-Wing Core Set as a present to my brother for his eighteenth birthday. It was on May 2014 and in Italy Wave 3 was up to be released. We knew nobody to play with so we started together, me and my brother, playing at home, few months later we participated in our first tournament, and that was the beginning of our burning passion for this game…
2. What is or was your favorite 100 Point Squadron?
No doubt, it will seem vintage right now, but 3 dagger squadron pilots plus a gray squadron stressbot is the squadron i loved most probably.
3. Do you have a favorite ship or pilot that you try an include in your squads? (Due to the ability, model, …)
Unfortunatly I don’t play them much often anymore, but the B-Wing has been with no doubt my favourite ship for a long time, Blue Squadron Pilots in particular, it was a wonderful tank, with enough endurance to face the enemy with no fear and than use his barrel rolls and his 2k-turn to bump the enemies and trap them in their dangerous range-1 fire. I don’t like to play Pilots with an high PS or strange (often only occasionally usefull) pilot skills. The only Pilot I played a lot was Roark Garnet, I think his ability makes him the best pilot to support the rebel swarms I love.
4. How do you build / find squads? Do you have preferred tactics? Offensive / defensiv? Do you prefer durable ships or arc dodgers?
I think basically there are only two kind of ways to play this game (according to my experience at least), and every pilot should know in wich way he’s better: To Catch or To Be Catched. Due to its deal-system X-Wing is, in my opinion, very close to some Poker’s aspects, and every player should choose his list based on his ability on bluffing or reading the opponent cards. A Decifel, Dengaroo or Dash-Corran lists are bluffing lists: based on dodging the enemies and slowly destroy them; 4B-Bandit, Triple-Jumpmaster or Tie-Swarms are hunters lists: based on the capability to trap the enemy in multiple arc-fires to maximise the firepower or bumping the enemy disturbing his abilities or sinergies. I always played low pilot skills and usually never less then 4 ships, so I think I’m part of the second group of pilots: I love to guess what’s in my opponent’s head.
5. Is there a ship that you would like a upgrade for? Either a title or new pilots.
I would love to see a HWK-290 restyle. I think compared to the last waves ships has some problems to be included in a list right know, and that’s a pity. I think that it should have been a huge ship to.
6. What was your greatest achievement?
The third place in the last ETC Team Tournament. To have had the chance to be the capitain and lead the Italian National (The Kasshyyk Wookies) in an event like that, well, thats was cool.
7. Whats your opinion on the current development of X-Wing?
I think waves are released too often. The game is evolving too fast and too many new game-dynamics are invented instead of developing the ones that are already there.
8. Whats your view of the community?
I think one of the reasons I still play X-Wing is the people it made me meet. I really have met some of my closest friends with this game and so many crazy and beautiful people in Italy and all over Europe: people I love to play with and I love to face during tournaments. In Italy we have a great community, and I think we’re near to have a great European community to.
9. Where do you collect/exchange information about X-Wing?
We founded a team named “Spaceducks”: we are a group of pilots costantly chatting about the FFG’s news and testing new lists and tactics weekly. Obviously the informations comes from the Internet mostly, the X-Wing: Starfighters Italia FB page is our morning newspaper.
10. Are there any pilots or crew members you are missing from books, TV shows, movies, comics, games?
Great Admiral Thrawn was one of my favourite characters of the Extended Universe, and his still missing in X-Wing.
